The benefits of feeding a raw meat diet to cats.

Why Raw?

The species appropriate diet

Once we have come to realize that the feline is an obligate carnivore, and must eat meat in order to survive, what can we expect in the way of health benefits when we make the choice to feed a raw meat diet? The following is a list of ailments which can be avoided through proper nutrition.  Or in the case of commercially fed cats, these chronic conditions can, in most cases, be alleviated:

•  Obesity

•
Diabetes

•
Feline lower urinary tract disease

•
Struvite crystals

•  Oxalate stones

•
Kidney disease

•
Inflammatory bowel disease

•  Hyperthyroidism

•  Allergies

•  Tartar and gum disease

Tartar and gum disease (most cats require dental cleaning at least once in a lifetime, regardless of diet, however a build-up of tartar can be greatly reduced with the raw meat diet) Considering the many dietary options which line the store shelves, the choice to feed a balanced, species appropriate diet will have the greatest and most positive impact on your cat’s health.  There is simply no better option.
